Summer Program 2021

Week 1 – July 5th-9th: Camping
In this week, the children will enjoy a wide variety of activities related to nature and camping. Painting, nature scouting, scavenger hunts, nature themed stories, roasting marshmallows, nature walks and field trips, making bird feeders, and how to set up a tent.  There will be two field trips this week, firstly being a trip to Scout Island. The children will have an hour-long trail walk, a picnic lunch, and a look into the Nature Center before going home for the day. The second field trip will be to Gavin Lake where the kiddos will be able to play with each other and have a snack and a hot dog lunch together. We hope to see you there!

Week 2- July 12th-16th: Safari Adventure
In this week, the children will enjoy a wide variety of crafts and activities related to the Safari and all the animals you would see there. Making elephant toothpaste, slime, paper plate snakes, making Safari hats, and zebra print shaving cream will most certainly be fun for the kiddos. The activities planned will keep the kids active and most importantly have fun!

Week 3 – July 19th-23rd: Water Adventure
In this week, the children will enjoy a fun-filled week of crafts and activities related to the waters and oceans of the world, and a trip to Biff’s Pond. Crafts such as seashell painting, cork sailboats, slime making, and making tropical paper fish will be present. Story times and outside play with water will also keep the kiddos occupied and happy!

Week 4 – July 26th-30th: Olympics
In this week, the children will enjoy a week of indoor and outdoor sports and exploring the Olympics through crafts. Fun crafts will include making Olympic medals, paper torches, building a LEGO mascot, paper plate ski lift, Olympic bracelets, and Olympic flags. In the afternoon, the kiddos will participate in a variety of sports and games such as balloon volleyball, a hurdle race, a backwards race, bean bag toss, Jenga, and Monopoly. We hope your kiddos can make it!

Week 5 – Aug 3rd-6th: World Tour
In this week, the children will learn all about the different cultures from around the world through crafts and activities, and a trip to Xatsull Village. The kiddos will be making suitcases, maracas, Brazilian carnival masks, Chinese lanterns, Playdough countries, paper cup pyramids, LEGO Eiffel Tower, candy sushi, and a paper plate dream catcher. There will also be fun games such as a chopstick relay, dancing to Macarena, and musical chairs. Come along if you love different country’s cultures!

Week 6 – Aug 9th-13th: Earth Friendly
In this week, the children will learn about Mother Earth and how to care for it through recycling and gardening. The kiddos will also learn about the weather and nature. The crafts will consist of making bird feeders, nature paintbrushes, a recycling sensory bin, painting, and butterfly feeders. The kiddos will get some gardening experience by making egg carton starter plants. There will be two fieldtrips to the Potato House and a trip to the local Farmer’s Market and the water park at Kiwanis Park. Come along if you love the outdoors and learning about our Earth!

Week 7 – Aug 16th-20th: Rainforest Adventure
In this week, the children will go on a virtual rainforest fieldtrip and learn all about the animals and their habitat with crafts and activities. Fun crafts like making a beaded snake, egg carton alligators, handprint monkeys, making rain sticks, and a rainforest collage will be present. The kiddos can also participate in games such as rainforest charades, rainforest yoga, movement games, rainforest bingo, and a rainforest word search. There will also be a fieldtrip to the water park at Kiwanis Park. This virtual rainforest trip is waiting for you!

Week 8 – Aug 23rd-27th: S.T.E.A.M Week
In this week, the children will be exploring S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Enjoy the variety of crafts and activities we have prepared. Crafts consist of rain cloud jars, paper plate maze, painting with veggies, foil boat, a catapult, soap clouds, oobleck, colour changing slime, apple volcanos, and making a kaleidoscope. Other activities include a robot lab, experimenting with sound, salt water density, and making ice cream in a bag. There will be fieldtrips the the Arts Center and the bowling alley apart of this week. The wide variety of activities should surely keep the kiddos occupied and smiling!
